Behind the Scenes of College Admissions
Two seasoned admissions professionals will lead a live exercise where you, the audience, will participate as members of a mock admissions committee for a fictitious university. The purpose of this session is to help students understand what is most important to an admissions committee when making decisions.
Kate Guertin, Director of Northeast Recruitment for Dickinson College
Kate Guertin has been working in college admissions for 19 years. As the Director of Northeast Recruitment for Dickinson College, Kate oversees all recruitment initiatives for the college in New England and New York state. Kate works directly with students from Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Rhode Island while living full time regionally in Massachusetts. Prior to Dickinson, Kate served as Senior Associate Director of Admission at Lesley University.
Karen L. Gerrior-Mariani, Associate Director of Regional Admissions for High Point University based in Massachusetts.
Karen has worked in the field of education for almost 20 years with extensive experience in college alumni relations. She earned her Master of Science from Leslie University and her B.A. in Communications from the University of New Hampshire. Prior to entering the field of higher education, Karen worked in professional sports (NBA, NHL, MLB) and in the TV/entertainment world at Showtime Networks. A daughter of a proud educator, Karen was born and raised in Massachusetts. She loves to watch and play sports and is an enthusiastic fan of hiking and pickleball.
